Presentation & Communication
Throughout my time at university, I have had the opportunity to present my work many times - to my tutors, classmates, and industry professionals. It is a skill that I have developed over time and I am now very confident in communicating my ideas in front of others!
Leadership & Organisation
During my time in Peterborough, I was given the responsibility of teaching Sunday lessons and organising weekly activities for around twenty 11-18 year olds at my church. This involved a lot of planning and organisation to ensure fun and engaging activities were organised each week within the budget, such as a car washing fundraiser!
Microsoft Excel & Analytical
As a Merchandising Admin Assistant, I regularly use Microsoft Excel to complete analyses such as lessons learnt reviews, weekly sales trackers, best and worst seller reports, and sizing ratio analysis. This has strengthened my ability to interpret sales data and identify key trends, while also developing my advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables and formulas such as VLOOKUPs.
Teamwork & Time management
Throughout my time at Søstrene Grene as a Christmas temp, my role required consistent teamwork and time management in order to navigate the extremely busy period. I ensured that I stuck to my assigned jobs for each hour and was on hand to help my colleagues whenever needed. I also worked efficiently to keep shelves and displays sufficiently stocked and serve customers speedily, resulting in a successful festive period.
Commercial awareness
Frequent comp shopping activities online and in-person during university, as well as on placement have increased my commercial awareness. It has helped me to understand market trends, pricing strategies, customer expectations, and how brands differentiate themselves.
Proactive & Self-motivated
I am extremely proactive and am always looking to create new opportunities for myself. For example, at a recent networking event, I pushed myself out of my comfort zone to speak to as many industry professionals as time allowed, which resulted in making several contacts that assisted later on in the research for my final year business plan.
