BA(Hons) Fashion Management
Long story short (ish)...
First Year













My first year on Fashion Management, I was instantly immersed into the world of fashion and business. The year included many trips, live projects, and group projects. We studied 3 modules:

Product development

Global Fashion

Brand Me
It was through the Global Fashion module that I began to be interested in the merchandising role - it seemed to be just the right balance of creative vs commercial for me!

Second Year











During second year, I studied 4 different modules:

This year, the more I learnt about the effects of fashion production and consumption on the planet, the more interested I became in sustainability - I began making personal changes to the way I shop and consume fashion!
Buying/merchandising sessions included lots of range planning and trend forecasting
Live project with Yours Clothing - we presented our group project to senior management there!

Loved visiting a few HQs this year!
Great to see what we had been learning about HO roles in action.

Used their industrial sewing machines to create some festive pieces!

Colab module - my group created a yoga map and app, 'Naveetna'. We partnered with university students in China when it came to our marketing strategy.

Wrote a report on how transparency attracts Gen Z and Millennial customers - first time conducting interviews with industry professionals!

Final Year

I completed a 12 month placement at Yours Clothing as a merchandising admin assistant. This year helped me piece together everything I'd learnt so far and see how it really works in industry.
Some highlights from the year:

working on the jersey, wovens, and bottoms teams
-
collaborating with buyers, garment techs, a trend forecaster, print design
-
learning to love Microsoft Excel and analsying data
-
cementing the fact that I want to work in merchandising after graduation
-
living with other placement students who have become friends for life!

My final year on Fashion Management has been the most demanding yet the most enjoyable. Modules included:

Fashion Business & Entrepreneurship

Professional development
Throughout these modules I have had the chance to build my own brand identity and improve my team work skills. My business plan project was an opportunity to research a topic of my interest - sustainability within the fast fashion industry. Interviewing industry professionals for my research allowed me to gain great knowledge and connections, and stretched my organisation and analysis skills.
